🕵 How to find lost things in Victoria

Report if something was stolen to the Victoria Police (if this happened in the City of Victoria), the Saanich Police or the RCMP (if it happened in Langford, Colwood, etc..). They want to know and often can help recover the items.

Ferry (BC Ferries): They ask you to phone the ferry terminal where you think you lost it, or, one of the terminals your ferry stopped in. They list the phone numbers for each terminal on their website. If you took the ferry from Vancouver, you most likely took the trip from the Tsawwassen terminal to the Swartz Bay terminal. bcferries.com/contact-us.

If you lost something on your airplane, call the airline you were on (Air Canada, Westjet, etc…)

If your flight lost your luggage, call the airline you were on (Air Canada, Westjet, etc…)

If you lost your wallet, report it to the police. They take this seriously. If you find it later on, just give them a call to let them know, and it won’t be a big deal at all.

Lost credit card? Call your bank to report it.

Lost debit card? Call your bank to report it.

Lost driver’s licence? Call ICBC to report it at 1-800-950-1498 (if you have a BC driver’s licence).

If you need money, go to a branch of your bank in town and they will usually be able to give you cash on a case-by-case basis.

If you have apple pay, Interac or another banking app on your phone, you may be able to use it to pay for things like taxis, food, etc.. while you are looking for your wallet using touchless technology.

If you lost your passport or other identity documents, report it to the police. They take this seriously. If you find it later on, just give them a call to let them know, and it won’t be a big deal at all.

It helps if you have your tracking number for the package or an email receipt. Packages sometimes get delivered to a nearby Canada Post shop inside a pharmacy or grocery store, for example.

If you can’t find your car, it may have been towed. You’ll have to call the local tow companies to see if they have it. It helps if you have your license plate number. Once you verify it was not towed, call the police to report your car stolen.
